Driver Resource Center (DRC) is proud to announce that 28-year-old Rick White of Spiro, Oklahoma has been selected as the 3rd Quarter Future of Trucking Scholarship recipient. Rick was awarded a $1,000 scholarship to attend MTC Truck Driver Training in Tulsa, OK, where he is pursuing his Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).

Rick is a member of the Cherokee Nation Tribe and resides on the Choctaw Nation Reservation in Spiro. In addition to the scholarship from DRC, he also received a grant from the Choctaw Nation to cover the remainder of his tuition, allowing him to fully focus on his training.

“We are thrilled to support Rick as he takes this next step toward a successful future in the trucking industry,” said Brock Bauza, Director of Enrollment at Driver Resource Center. “Rick’s dedication, safety mindset, and drive for a better future embody the values we look for in our scholarship recipients. We are excited to see all that he will accomplish.”

Before enrolling in CDL school, Rick worked as a forklift operator, often around semi-trucks. His experience inspired him to pursue a career that offered higher income potential and long-term stability.

“Safety is always the first priority and that’s something I learned working in the warehouse,” Rick shared. “It takes skill and a safety mindset to be a good driver. MTC’s instructors gave me the knowledge I needed to pass the CDL test. They made it really easy, but it was up to me to learn the material.”

Rick expressed his appreciation for the support he received from MTC, DRC, and the Choctaw Nation, noting how seamless the entire process was. From securing funding to enrollment and passing his CDL test, Rick said the experience was “very smooth” and gave him the confidence to begin this new chapter.
